What is on offer?

The GreenerFuture project is offering funding and professional support to make community energy projects happen.

Community energy projects bring local people together to generate renewable energy, save energy and create community benefits such as saving people money and creating green jobs.

Our aim is to build community energy champions across the county that can work collaboratively towards a low carbon future. We are offering funding for community groups, a free mentoring programme and community energy support network.

What is happening?

We are developing community energy projects projects across the Leicestershire that you could be part of. This includes the recently launched Leicestershire Schools Solar Project.

There is a monthly online forum to collaborate and connect with others interested in community energy in Leicestershire.

Community energy is about communities having a stake in how energy can be saved and renewable energy generated in their local area. Community energy organisations develop these projects and provide other benefits for their community such as funding wider community projects, creating green jobs and investment opportunities.

The community energy movement is made up of professionals, community groups, organisations, businesses, and people that want to create a greener energy system, develop their skills and job opportunities, or simply want to make a difference in their spare time.

Who we are

As part of GreenerFuture Leicestershire, Leicestershire County Council, Community Energy Pathways and Green Fox Community Energy, are working together to kickstart the community energy sector in Leicestershire.

Community Energy Pathways supports the community energy sector to build its scale and impact throughout the UK. They are bringing over a decade of experience, leading experts, extensive networks and partnerships, to support the development of community energy projects and organisations in Leicestershire.

Green Fox Community Energy is Leicestershire's leading community energy organisation. Established in 2012 by local people, it aims to increase community owned energy projects in Leicester and Leicestershire.
